A great convention was the California Steampunk Convention in 2008.  A lot of crazy happenings went on such as the memory of Captain Elrick Von Hinelhoffer accidentally lighting his coat tails on fire with his Sterling Steam Engine.  And these one inventors had created a flying ship that could only hover about an inch off the ground, and lasted about 30 seconds, but it was great to see the innovation.  Someday Victoria London will fly!
