The Best Steampunk Video Games

Steampunk video games are hard to come by. Its not exactly mainstream media, but of the few steampunk genre games out there, most of the ones available are of top notch quality coming from big publishers like Square Enix and CodeMasters. Here is my list of the best steampunk genre video games:

* Space: 1889 - An old forgotten classic made in 1990, it was a london victoria space travelling conquest adventure. Very addictive and great for the nostalgic. PC and board game.

* Wild ARMs - A less known Square Enix RPG based upon Wild West Elements, Steampunk, and RPG with a heavily similar Final Fantasy Like Style, this game is tops in my cartridge. On 360 and PS3

* On the Rain-Slick Precipice of Darkness - This is a Penny Arcade adventure based upon the popular comic and released on Xbox Live Arcade. It has a humorous story line and fans will love it.

* Arcanum: Of Steamworks and Magick Obscura - typical rpg in steampunk environment for the the PC.

* Rise of Nations: Rise of Legends - In 2006 Big Huge Games made a brilliantly animated steampunk Real Time Strategy game for the PC. Not a well known game, this is one of the best in this list for its true steampunk atmosphere, awesome characters, and innovative gameplay.

* SkyGunner - Steampunk Flight simulator combat for the PS2. It was alright, but the feel was definitely steampunk.

* Dark Cloud 2 - An anime style RPG that revolves around Max, who is a mad inventor and knows how to wield a pipe wrench like a pro. For PS2.

* Final Fantasy VI - Final Fantasy has encompassed so many different universes all with the same style. Many have had many elements of steampunk in them such as steam monsters and steam air ships, but I felt that #6 had the most steampunk elements. It was made in 1994. Super NES.

* Damnation - this games involves a character set in an alternate Earth, steampunk environment in America in the early 20th century. You fight off the evil Industrialist who is trying to abolish the Union and Confederates. It came out this year and however not the best, it is a very strong game. For PS3 and 360.
