What is a steampunk frock? In the literal sense of the word it is just a loose fitting garment, so that would include everything from a gi to a dress. But that's not so, when we are thinking of it in terms of steampunk you need to look to look to the 18th century Britain and New America. It is a thigh length jacket that is collared and was originally worn by the working class, but made its way into the dress of politicians and bourgoesie. It is usually layered over a lighter dress jacket, with a collared shirt underneath that. Don't confuse it with a frockcoat which is a more modern suit coat worn in the 1900s, and will make you be outdated if dressing up for a steam punk party.
